Glint - Mind Matters

Recently I was approached by Glint to photograph their ‘Mind Matters’ project - I was absolutely blown away by the work that Heidi, Jenny and the team of Horses (Cloud, Billy, Gertie & Zahra) do. Creating a space for people to connect with each other and the world around them.

Mind Matters is a project funded via TSL Kirklees & NHS SWYT which gave people an opportunity to experience working in a small group with the team at Glint and the Horses to work on their confidence and well being.

It was important for me to strike the right balance of capturing the key moments, being present within the session but also not disrupting the proceedings.

A standout moment for me was during a meditation session when all of the horses came as close to the workshop as they could and the vibes got so relaxed that they all fell asleep!

Seeing how Horses respond to the energies that people transmit was amazing and learning how, as prey animals Horses don’t have the luxury of over thinking things - they are entirely living in the moment ( something us Humans could learn a LOT from)!

The photographs from each session were incorporated into the workshops, we invited people to share their thoughts and reflections on the images which prompted some interesting conversations about the ways in which people see the world and how we all see things differently. The photographs were printed as a set of postcards featuring quotes and reminders of the conversations that took place through the project too.

It was a huge privilege to be invited to take part in the Mind Matters project, I am filled with admiration for Heidi, Jenny and of course the Horses (Cloud, Billy, Gertie & Zahra) for their ability to bring people together into a caring and safe space to reflect and explore things that are often difficult to talk about.

It was a very humbling and inspiring experience to be present for these conversations - I feel very privileged to have taken part and I offer my huge thanks to all of the participants and to the team at Glint for the invitation.
