Introducing Our New Online Course: ABCD and Photovoice
We’re excited to announce the launch of our latest online course, ABCD and Photovoice, designed for professionals working in citizen spaces who are eager to deepen their community-centred practices.
This is a partnership between Our Creative Connection, Nurture Development and United Communities.
This course combines the principles of Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) with the participatory method of Photovoice to empower communities to tell their own stories and drive change.
What is Photovoice?
Photovoice is a participatory approach that uses photography as a tool for individuals to capture aspects of their environment and experiences. By doing so, it enables community members to identify issues, reflect on their community’s strengths and challenges, and communicate their perspectives to stakeholders and decision-makers.
Integrating ABCD and Photovoice
Asset-Based Community Development focuses on identifying and mobilising existing community strengths and assets rather than concentrating on deficits. By integrating Photovoice into ABCD practices, this course offers a unique opportunity for practitioners to facilitate community engagement that is both reflective and action-oriented.
